Funny Process Model: Friendship Algorithm

leave a comment »

I recently started watching ‘The Big Bang Theory’. Its like a ‘PhdComics‘ in tv series shape. In Season 2, episode 13 there is a very funny scene about the ‘friendship algorithm’.

The flowchart is:

Friendship algorithm flowchart (original) from http://watch-bigbangtheory.com/1330-friendship-algorithm/

Or, better readible:

Friendship Algorithm (readible version)

Please note that in the original version there was a loop where Sheldon got stuck in. Luckily Howard spotted this on time and improved it.

TTFN!

Funny Dilbert strip about workflow process improvement

Hmz… Maybe this is why process improvement fails… Maybe we need to deliver the message better and not mention the chickens…

And also: look out that we’re not replaced by chickens (/duck/frogs/dogs/cows/etc.) ourselves!

Enjoy the weekend! (I know I will)

Funny process model week 47: When to meet with your advisor?

leave a comment »

I’m starting to notice that my ‘Funny process model’ series is not so much about process models any more… Hmz, maybe process models are not meant to be funny??? Well, here is a funny PhD comic then:

My meeting is scheduled for Friday morning every other week. The ‘Pro’ is true, the ‘con’ not, or not so far at least.

Funny process model week 46: Economic crisis impact in university staff

leave a comment »

Well, strengthened by the comment of Anne on my last ‘funny process model of the week’ I dare to post this one from PHD Comics:

My only hope now is that Anne is right or that my supervisor does not read my blog (before March 1).

Enjoy the weekend!!!

Funny process model week 45: The Scientific Method

with 2 comments

Well, this ‘process model’ is rather tricky to post because without the proper explanation it might appear that I or we (here at the TU/e or my faculty) work this way. I must say, that this is not the case to my knowledge. The proposed process model is just a hypothesis of how reality could look like and needs to be tested…

Or how it works in reality...

Or how it works in reality...

Hope you don’t feel offended 😉

Funny process model week 44: Are you happy?

leave a comment »

The next process model is more serious and should be repeated regularly:

Are you happy?

Via the Fluxicon Capacitator from H34

Some remarks might be in place here. As you might have noticed, this process model or flowchart does not differentiate between states, actions, decisions and answers. Furthermore, the start and end of the flow is only indicated by the location of the largest circle. And the frequency of repetition is not given but I think that this depends on the user and circumstances.

Enjoy the weekend and be sure to execute this process regularly 😉
